Many of our Hostel guests in Berlin ask whether they can visit the German Bundestag spontaneously. This is no longer possible.

Previously it was possible to line up with other international tourists in Berlin to visit the great glass dome with a great view over Berlin.

Today it is only possible by appointment. The entrance is still free and anyone interested can also register as a listener in a plenary sessions. Lucky guests can throw a look at the Federal Chancellor Mrs. Merkel or Mr. Westerwelle.

Guided tours and lectures are also available and all easily available online on the website of the Bundestag. More information you will get our hostel reception.

In the center of Berlin there are museums, attractions and exhibitions providing a lot of information about the capital.

Even outside Berlin in Potsdam Babelsberg there is much to discover. Here shoot Hollywood stars like Tom Cruise movies, but also the german series "Good Times Bad Times" (GZSZ) is produced there.

Now the film studio Babelsberg near Berlin turns 100 years old. A great reason to celebrate, because in fact each of us who stays at the Metropol Hostel knows actresses like Marlene Dietrich, Asta Nielsen or Hildegard Knef, who became famous due to the Berlin studio. We think it is worth a visit!

The 62nd International Film Festival Berlinale is over and the stars and starlets have gone home. Actors such as Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Robert Pattinson walked the red carpet for a week in Berlin and presented their films. The italian director duo and brothers Paolo and Vittorio Taviani won the Golden Bears for her film "Caesar must die." The German production "Barbara" was awarded the Silver Bear. We were particularly pleased for the winning amateur actress Rachel Mwanza from the Congo, which plays a very convincing child soldier in the movie "Rebelle".

As of 02/21/12 the next trade show starts in Berlin. On the Bautec visitors can inform themselves about different building techniques and construction options.


Great strides, it then goes to the International Tourism Board from 7.3-11.3.12. During the first three days, the ITB is open for trade visitors. On 10.3.+11.3.12 tourism and leisure fans can gather information about future destinations and get incentives for the next holidays. We hope you enjoy!

In order to sleep tight and comfy without any creaking noises, we ordered new bunk beds for the next season. There will be our own design with more stability, extra bracings, strong slatted frames to provide you with a good night sleep. At the moment we even consider to order the beds in red - would match the logo!
